Interfaith Unity Through Diversity
On Tuesday November 11, 2025, the San Pedro Faith Consortium hosted it’s 6th annual Interfaith Service event. The Consortium is a cooperation of approximately six congregations that work together to improve the quality of life for unhoused persons, and provide other interfaith service and worship for the San Pedro area. Chinmaya Mission for the second year got a special invitation to say a few words at the event.
Members of several different congregations had an opportunity to share how omnipresence plays a role in their faith’s teachings. After each faith leader’s remarks, different colors of sand was poured into a vessel. At the end of the speeches, all attendees poured sand into the vessel as well creating this beautiful piece of art.
Raj Iyer, Rushi Patel, Nikki Patel, Janaky Sundaram, Siva Kanan, and yours truly were in attendance representing Chinmaya Mission. Raj Iyer shared a wonderful speech about how Santan Dharma incorporates the concept of omnipresence and led the group in prayer.
It was a beautiful event. Seeing many different faiths speak about peace and commonalities instead of focusing on differences was refreshing. We hope its the first of many that we take part in.
Please check out Raj Iyer's speech Here!
